03The cloth
Half of this shop is fabric.
The bunches on the wall are the part of the order people enjoy most. Worsteds and blends for suiting, cottons and linens for shirting, and heavier cloth for winter jackets. We sell it by the metre whether or not we stitch it.

04How an order runs
Five steps, in this order, every time.

Measure
Sixteen measurements, taken in the shop. Ten minutes, no appointment needed.

Choose cloth
Pick from the bunches on the wall, or bring your own fabric — we stitch either.
- 3
Cut
Your cloth is chalked and cut to your pattern. Nothing is off the rack.
- 4
Trial fitting
You try the garment part-finished so the fit is corrected before it is closed.
- 5
Collect
Pressed, finished and checked on you one last time before it leaves.

Jayant NX has been cutting for Nashik since 1975, from the shopping centre beside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Garden. Grooms come in for a wedding and come back for their first office suit. That is the whole business model, and it has not needed changing.
